Written by: Darren DedoCase Filed: 11/16/01 - Jackson, MississippiExecutive Producer: Rick Garner Columbus police officer Pat Robertson says, "It was some sort of unidentified flying object is what it was." An anonymous eyewitness says, "Air Force came out here, they came out and explained it away. said we didn't see it."UFO Researcher Tony Scarborough, Ph.D., says, "A little over 50 years ago, the Air Force itself concluded that these were extraterrestrial vehicles, by 30 years ago they vehemently denied there was anything to the Air Force question."From north Mississippi to the gulf coast, UFO's were spotted everywhere during the early 1970's. People from all walks of life reported seeing strange lights in the night sky."Yeah, 1973 Fall and early 1974 Mississippi was probably one of the hot spots for UFO sightings." Scarborough has been investigating unidentified flying objects for 30-years. He believes the military has knowledge about these strange craft."I've come across a number at least half a dozen, retired or active Air Force Intelligence Officers who basically admitted that sort of thing - cover-up - but none of them would admit to me if they knew why there was cover-up."According to Scarbourough, the U.S. military isn't the only country that are tracking these space vehicles. "They told me that the majority of the research budget in the state technical institute of Georgia in Russia where they worked was devoted to trying to replicate UFO propulsive systems."Organizations like the mutual UFO network, incorporated, investigate UFO sightings. We obtained a report about a UFO sighting by an unidentified major at Keesler Air Force base on the coast. he reported seeing a strange object at the base. According to him, it wasn't one of ours. UFO sightings were not the only strange activities happening in the magnolia state."About four years ago, there were over 200 dead cattle in Mississippi... dissected and mutilated that year. Almost none of those made the newspapers." Scarbrough says no tire tracks or foot prints were found near the carcasses. Plus, the cuts were not surgical.A famous sighting on the Mississippi gulf coast sparked off an abundance of UFO sightings statewide in 1973. Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker claimed to have been abducted by aliens, and taken aboard a spaceship.Charles Hickson recalls, "They came around the side of me, one took ahold of this shoulder, and I felt paint in it, just instant pain. Another one took ahold of this soldier, and I just went limp. They weren't touching the ground, they were just gliding to where I was."Both Hickson and Parker took lie detector tests and passed. Some abductees claim their captors put implants on their bodies to keep track of them. Hickson's doctor found something unexplained on him."They found something on the back of my eyeball, like a little knot. A long time ago they found this. They don't know what it is. They even sent me to New Orleans to a cancer doctor. They though it was a cancer, it's not changing."In early 1974, Flora Police Chief Hubert Roberts saw a strange craft hovering in a Madison County field."You could see like where a big spot out there, it had parched the grass."Roberts actually testified before a Subcommittee of the State Legislature. Up north in Columbus, Mississippi, a trio of police officers and many citizens witnessed something unexplained.Columbus police officers Billy Nolan recalls, "Dispatched to a address on Maple Street. He got there and about 25 people were out in the street. They were talking about something that had shined a light down on a house."Skeptics wonder why a UFO hasn't landed, or why the military hasn't captured one. If you ask some Ufologists, they'll tell you it has already happened.Additional Resources :NATIONAL UFO REPORTING CENTERREPORT UFO SIGHTINGS OR ABDUCTIONSVIEW UFO SIGHTINGSVIEW UFO ABDUCTIONS Pat Robertson - Full Interview Billy Nolan - Full Interview Ufologist Tony Scarborough - Full Interview Flora Police Chief Hubert Roberts - Full Interview Charles Hickson - Full Interview Calvin Parker - Full Interview
