M'ario Neves Silva, investigador do Pufoi (Portuguese UFO Investigation) e do CTEG, confirmou que, at'e hoje, n~ao foi poss'ivel conhecer a g^enese do "fen^omeno a'ereo n~ao identificado" de Alfena, "apesar de todas as tentativas de enquadr'a-lo em qualquer um dos fen^omenos naturais ou artificiais conhecidos".
"Os negativos das fotos foram estudados em v'arios centros especializados (Porto, Lisboa, Espanha, Franca, Alemanha e Estados Unidos), tendo as conclus~oes ditadas, de uma forma inequ'ivoca, a veracidade das mesmas, bem como a estranheza do fen^omeno apresentado", sublinhou.
Carlos Oliveira, que pertenceu `a Comiss~ao Nacional de Investigac~ao do Fen^omeno OVNI (CNIFO), salientou que o caso de Alfena 'e um dos poucos que continua por explicar, dado que na maioria das observac~oes acaba por se concluir que n~ao s~ao OVNIs.
"A maior parte s~ao simples luzes no c'eu que as pessoas imaginam que sejam de naves extraterrestres, o que 'e um perfeito disparate, n~ao s'o porque por se ver luzes n~ao faz sentido imaginar-se logo uma origem extraterrestre, mas porque se assume que ETs viajariam dist^ancias enormes entre estrelas com naves tecnologicamente semelhantes `as nossas do s'eculo XX e, disparate extremo, que teriam far'ois `a frente e em baixo", afirmou.
Para Carlos Oliveira, "n~ao h'a qualquer raz~ao para existirem far'ois em naves que fazem viagens interestelares. Isso 'e uma completa falta de imaginac~ao. E ainda para mais sendo esses far'ois de luz vis'ivel".

m.cohen@allnewsweb.comReuters reported this week that archaeologists working in deep in Guatemala's northern jungle have unearthed incredible carved panels that are believed to depict scenes from Mayan creation myths involving monsters, serpents and deities. The panels were discovered on the site of El-Mirador, the largest known Mayan city in the world which is constantly being excavated revealing more surprises. The city itself is remarkable in that it contained the complex roads, canals and impressive structures one would expect of a modern metropolis. The sites head researcher Richard Hansen has dated the panels to around 300 BC. As expected there was no mention of aliens or UFOs in relation to the find. Ufologists have been concentrating in particular on Mayan civilization and mythology for decades, probably more so than any other ancient civilisation. Its astronomy and myths of immortal beings arriving from the stars to give humans knowledge are well known. Ufologists are now marvelling at the latest image of Mayan mythology carved in stone. Many have already noted that the image shown on Reuters clearly depicts a UFO surrounded by two non-human beings covered in some form of technological equipment. Interestingly the date range given for the carvings puts their creation not long after Ezekiel's graphic descriptions of wheels within wheels. Reuters has published a photo of one of the Mayan panels and to say that the similarity to Ezekiel's wheels and 'living creatures' is striking might be putting it mildly. I don't think the proof of the theory that civilizations were once guided by alien visitors could get any stronger. The only question is when will our friends from space openly return and give us some guidance, possibly more needed now than then.

The French Association for the preservation of the UFO Archives
SCEAU is the French acronym for "Preservation and conservation of ufological studies and archives". Our association, of which all collaborators are voluntary, has the legal status of a non-profit organization. It aims at the long-term preservation of the ufological heritage, that is all books, magazines, letters, investigation reports, newspaper clippings and any other documents (written, audiovisual or electronic) related to UFO research. SCEAU was founded in 1990, in consideration of the sorry fact that, too often, when someone who was engaged in studying these phenomena deceases or ceases being interested, or when a UFO group is disbanded, the perhaps very important documents he/she/it possessed are dispersed, disappear or even are destroyed by heirs...
SCEAU therefore undertook to contact all the persons and groups known to us as interested in UFOs or related phenomena in France and proposed them an "archives transfer contract". Under this contract, the donor transfers all or part of his/her archives to SCEAU at the time he/she chooses, either immediately or later or after his/her death, and defines the consultation conditions. Some people answer us that they have few interesting documents, but our experience of archives recovery shows us that even people who say this always have some important documents, including books we did not yet have.
After classification and detailed inventory of recovered documents, SCEAU puts them in the French Public Records network (National Archives in Paris and departmental - i.e. local - archives), where everyone has access to the documents, at conditions set by French Law on Archives (notably for protecting privacy) or at more restrictive conditions if so desired by the donor. As for books and magazines, that the Public Records are not legally bound to accept, they are deposited in public libraries. A great library in the east of France was given by SCEAU an important collection of several hundred books and magazines on UFOs and related topics, and 120 UFO books have recently been deposited in a university library. A third deposit of UFO books is planned, probably in Belgium, and all these "SCEAU libraries" will be gradually augmented with other books newly acquired by SCEAU. For all deposits, a contact is signed with the archives centre or the library, ensuring the durability of the deposit and defining the consultation conditions.
SCEAU intends to be a mere intermediary between the donor and the archives centre or the library. Its code of ethics, inscribed in its statutes, prescribes it to strictly respect the donor's will and to keep for itself no original document. Another rule adopted by SCEAU, which has no official position about what UFOs are (its members' opinions are diverse), is to discard not any document, however futile it may seem. Indeed, for so ill-understood phenomena as UFOs, it appears impossible to foresee what future searchers, who we preserve these documents for, may consider important. Anyway, even if some ufological claims should appear ill-founded in the future, related documents will be useful to sociologists for studying beliefs of our time. Preserved documents may therefore be useful in any case, be it to physical scientists or to social scientists.
We also play an awareness-raising role in the ufological community concerning preservation of its heritage. Experience it has acquired allows SCEAU to act as an adviser to any searcher wondering about long-term preservation of his/her ufological works and documents. Our association publishes a yearly bulletin giving the complete inventory of archives preserved during the year. SCEAU has established links with the SHG (Sign Historical Group: www.project1947.com/shg) and the AFU (Archives for UFO Research Foundation: www.afu.info), that pursue similar aims in USA and Sweden, and maintains contacts with foreign searchers, notably in Belgium, Italy and Switzerland.

As it is already known, nothing extraordinary happened last Saturday, November 18, the time that Mr. Jan Val Ellam predicted a mass sighting and an open contact with ETs, as I have informed globally last week via a few e-mails. His original prediction is that a mass sighting would happen anytime from November 15, 2006 to April 30, 2007. Although he had six more months to have the predictions confirmed, he anticipated the event to last Saturday, November 18, 17h30 local Bras'ilia time. Nothing happened.
I haven't heard yet any comment from Mr. Ellam about the failure in his prediction. But he assured me to that he would issue a statement today. It is highly expected by everybody in Brazil. Answers must be provided. The Brazilian UFO Community will not accept any easy simple excuse, any fabricated explanation for the NO SHOW. The Brazilian UFO Magazine will handle this issue journalistically, as it is its function. The person who claimed the facts is responsible for his claims and that responsibility will be demanded accordingly.

Vinicius Da Silva and Marta Rosenthal were returning home from a day of fishing in the River Tocantis when they felt a bump in one of the tires. Thinking he had a flat Vinicius stopped the vehicle and went to check. He could not find anything wrong with the tire but suddenly heard Marta screaming and saw her pointing to the right side of the road. There, only a few meters away, hovering over the water was a metallic object with small windows along its edge. Standing outside the object on a ledge was a humanoid figure of about 1.30 meters in height. The figure was holding something resembling a hose and was apparently sucking water from the river and into the craft. After about two minutes the humanoid pulled up the hose from the river and re-entered the object. The craft then became very bright and shot away horizontally into the sky.

While driving his Opel Corsa along around at the edge of a forest, the witness, 51-year old Alain Besse noticed a dark mass ovoid in shape sitting on a field a few meters from the forest. The object appeared to be about 120-125 meters away. A strong white light emanated from a rectangular opening on the craft. The object was the size of a large truck. Surprised the witness stopped his vehicle and thinking it was some type of "police operation" he watched intently from his vehicle. Soon he noticed two dark human-shaped silhouettes appear at the rectangular opening of the craft. The two figures, which were almost identical in appearance then approached to within 20 meters of the witness vehicle, walking in a normal manner, they were soon joined by a third identical figure that approached from the forest. The witness could not hear any noise coming from the object or the figures. The three figures then turned around and proceeded to walk back to the object. The three of them then entered the rectangular opening and disappeared within the strong white light. The rectangular opening the closed or disappeared and the witness could now only see the dark oval shaped form. However at the base of the object he could see a white diffuse light. The craft then emitted a very loud buzzing sound (like a cicada), rotated clockwise and then elevated at a 45-degree angle quickly disappearing into the sky. Besse estimated that the encounter lasted 5 to 6 minutes. Perplexed the witness did not approach the landing scene since it was difficult to access. Since it had been dark the witness could only describe the entities as human-like and wearing dark tight-fitting jumpsuits.

Five students camping in a deserted beach, including Luis Carlos Prima reported seeing a large disc shaped object about 10 meters in diameter land on the beach. The five geography students had been sleeping when a very strong wind suddenly woke them up. The wind was so strong that it began to unearth the tent from the sandy ground. Thinking it was a storm they ran out and confronted a huge disc shaped object with numerous bright lights on its top and windows on the center. Suddenly a small door opened and two short humanoids came out. The object and the humanoids were about 200 meters away from the witnesses. The little men seemed to be collecting ground samples when they became aware of the witnesses presence. They ignored the witnesses and after several minutes reboarded the object, which took off at high speed. Deep ground traces were found at the landing site.

Nearly half the population believes UFOs could be a sign of extraterrestrial visitation.
A HuffPost/YouGov poll reveals that 48 percent of adults in the United States are open to the idea that alien spacecraft are observing our planet -- and just 35 percent outright reject the idea.
The poll was seen as vindication from the community of UFO researchers who often feel they are laughed off by government officials.
"It's always been intriguing to me how we act as though only kooks and quacks and little old ladies in tennis shoes believe in flying saucers. And it's never been true, at least for 30 or 40 years," said former nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman, who was the original civilian investigator of the events surrounding the legendary Roswell, NM, UFO crash of 1947.
Friedman is very outspoken on the idea that some UFOs are intelligently controlled extraterrestrial vehicles.
"The believers are far more quiet, but far more on the side of reality," Friedman told The Huffington Post. "When you look at the polls, it's clear. And I see the benefit of that, personally, because I've only had 11 hecklers in over 700 lectures. I've been out there, all over the place, in every state, 18 other countries, and I know that my audience is more than tolerant -- they're accepting. It's been one of the things that really has kept me going."
In the HuffPost/YouGov poll, conducted between Sept. 6-7, 1,000 adults were asked if they either believed or didn't believe that some people have witnessed UFOs that have an extraterrestrial origin.
When YouGov offered respondents the choice between "slightly disagree, disagree" and "strongly disagree," those numbers added up to 35 percent who are skeptical of the notion that any UFOs may be alien-related.
However, nearly half of the adults surveyed (48 percent) resounded in the affirmative, leaving 16 percent who indicated that they weren't sure on either side of the ET issue.
That 48 percent may seem like a much higher number from a HuffPost/YouGov poll earlier this year which showed that a quarter of Americans think alien visitors have come to Earth.
"The thing about that poll is that it had a really high percentage of people saying they weren't sure," said Huffington Post polling director Emily Swanson. "In this new poll, we have a couple of things that maybe pressed some people into having a stronger opinion.
"One of those things is that we gave people a lot of gradations of the ability to agree. We had 'strongly agree' to 'only slightly agree.'"
Swanson further explained how, in the previous poll, "we asked about aliens coming to Earth. In the new poll, we're talking about UFOs of extraterrestrial origin and whether people have seen or experienced those. There may be a difference in terms of how people are interpreting that.
"Some people might be imagining aliens coming to Earth -- meaning like little green men actually on the ground. Whereas, a UFO, in theory could be an unmanned spacecraft, just some kind of contact with alien technology, and not necessarily actual aliens being on Earth physically. It's very interesting that the people who are on the fence actually seem to be somewhat inclined to say that they do believe."
The breakdown of responses include:
- Those who believe that some UFOs are alien in nature include 49 percent of men and 48 percent of women.
- College grads in this category show up at 37 percent while 53 percent of those who went to college but didn't graduate are among the UFO-ET believers.
- From a political perspective, the ET believer camp reveals 58 percent to be Democrats, 47 percent Independents and 37 percent Republicans.
Based on these current survey figures, Friedman would like to see fewer UFO eyewitnesses labeled as kooks.
"Polling has one advantage: Nobody knows who you're talking to. It's anonymous, and people are willing to say things if they know it's not going to be attributable to them," he said.

A trio of lost ghost hunters who said they trekked into a forest searching for paranormal activity were in fact cooking up crystal meth, police said.
Sonny Clay Hyatt, 39, called cops in Baton, N.C., on Monday night after getting lost in woods.
When officers found him by using the GPS coordinates on his cellphone, he claimed he'd ventured into the woodland with pals Thomas Glenn Imler, 38, and Eric John Schmidt, 31, after hearing tales of spooky spirits.
But he got separated from them and ended up lost.
Police, however, soon became suspicious about the real reason as to the group's nocturnal adventure.
The Hickory Daily reports that they grilled Hyatt until he confessed that they'd been trying to cook up meth but got into an argument when it failed.
They then split up, and Hyatt subsequently got lost.
Deputies later searched his apartment and allegedly found a "one pot shake and bake" with meth-making ingredients.
The trio was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine precursor chemicals.
They were scheduled to appear in court in Lenoir on Thursday.
I guess ghost hunting, Bigfoot hunting or UFO watching are all great reasons to be out in the woods late at night. But maybe don't call the cops if you are, in actuality, cooking up some crystal meth.
